# Dev Mode

`dev-mode.conf` is loaded when the `dev-mode` feature is enabled in [`_features.conf`](https://docs.walt.id/enterprise-stack/setup/configurations/config-files/features.md). Production licenses refuse to start with `dev-mode` on.

If the feature is enabled and this file is missing, startup continues and a warning is logged. The DID web resolver then keeps its built-in HTTPS default.

**Note:**

Enabling `dev-mode` also requires configuring [`dev-mode-access.conf`](https://docs.walt.id/enterprise-stack/setup/configurations/config-files/dev-mode-access.md) before its `/v1/dev/*` endpoints become callable. See that page for details.

## Example File

```hocon[dev-mode.conf]
enableDidWebResolverHttps = false
```

## Fields

### `enableDidWebResolverHttps`

_Boolean_ — Whether the DID `web` resolver uses HTTPS when resolving `did:web` documents. The configuration class default is `true`. Local examples typically set `false` so `did:web` works against HTTP development hosts.
